Maximize Your CITAC Membership

A Guide to Using CITAC-ACCFC.org Online Tools
By Shirine Usmani (Chair, Membership Comittee)

As a member of CITAC-ACCFC, we want you to get the most out of your membership. Here is a snapshot of just some of the online tools, services, and opportunities available to you.
Note: You must be logged in to access members-only services!

  1. Member Community List: By clicking on “Member Community List” in the “User Menu” you may view the profiles of each registered clinician investigator trainee. You can search for individuals by university (left side of the page) or by clicking on “Search Users” (upper right) and make virtual ‘connections’ with other MD+ students and even contact them via webmail.
  2. Resources: Located in the “Main Menu”, the “Resources” section contains a large amount of information that is added to regularly. Initially you will see the “Relevant Literature” which encompasses media and academic literature related to clinician investigator training and careers. Under “Web Links” you will find a vast number of categories linking you to current Funding Opportunities, Canadian MD+ programs, affiliations, publications by CITAC-ACCFC members and so much more.
  3. Submit Your Publications: When logged into your account, you will be able to click 'Submit Your Publications' in the Resources menu. Here you will be able to enter the details of your OWN publications that you would like posted in this public area of the site. Simply enter the name of your article, the URL to the pubmed abstract or the journal where the publication is hosted and make sure it is selected to be posted into the "Publications by CITAC-ACCFC Members" section.
  4. Discussion Forums: Another option under the “User Menu” is “Discussion Forums.” By clicking on this tab you will see several forums, each with many topics of discussion. Such topics include how to stay motivated and career questions about choosing a residency program. You can share your views on these issues and even start new discussion threads.
  5. Mentorship Program: Also located under the “User Menu” is the “Mentorship Program.” Clicking this tab will provide you a list of MD+ mentors who have agreed to assist trainees with career-related issues and concerns. You can search for a mentor based on their university or research area and contact them by email in order to arrange a phone or in-person meeting depending on your needs.
  6. News: By clicking on “News” you can read recent articles about MD+ trainees, recent announcements, download the latest CITAC newsletter, and read about current topics of interest.
  7. Events: Under the “Main Menu” click on “Events” to access information about events of interest to clinician investigators. Upcoming conferences include the CITAC Annual General Meeting and the American Physician Scientist Association (APSA) Annual Meeting. Here you can find information about registration and abstract submissions.

The features listed here are just some of the many ways you can make the most of your CITAC membership! Please log into your account, explore these and other features, and enjoy!
